6-tear-old saves FL teacher's life in classroom!

Last month at Frostproof Elementary School in Frostproof, a substitute teacher named Joyce Darr collapsed in front of her class and was unresponsive.

Luckily, though, one of the students in her class was six-year-old Max Meza, who jumped into action, running out of the classroom and getting help.

The brain injury suffered by Mrs. Darr was serious – and the action taken by Max saved her life.

The local sheriff’s department wanted to honor Max for seeing something and saying something, especially during such a scary time, so they surprised him with a certificate and a brand-new bike.

Darr's son, Derek, also appreciated Max being able to help his mom on that day, so Derek gave Max the gift of a new pair of sneakers, in the school colors.

Of course, everyone is hoping the rest of the school year isn’t quite as eventful as the way it started. But, everyone is definitely thankful that Max was able to do exactly the right thing when tragedy did strike.

Makes me wonder how many kids that age would know to get help in that type of medical emergency. Maybe this will motivate you to have a talk with your kiddos about what to do in a similar situation. That conversation could save a life!
