Manatee County residents may apply for another round of CARES Act funding in August
County officials invite public to virtual meeting on Friday at 9 a.m. to go over application process for individuals who have experienced financial losses from the coronavirus
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (July 30, 2020) – A second round of ManateeCARES Act funding assistance is being made available for individuals who have experienced financial losses as a result of the coronavirus and who need help paying overdue rent or mortgage.
In June, hundreds of Manatee County residents applied for funding through the Housing Assistance Program (HAP). The second round of CARES Act assistance opens the eligibility to include residents of the City of Bradenton. There are fewer application requirements for CARES Act funding for the second round. The application window is Aug. 6 - 20, or once there are 500 completed applications. Full details are listed at mymanatee.org/ManateeCares
Local nonprofit agencies and community organizations that are providing assistance and services to the public during the pandemic may apply for CARES Act funding beginning Aug. 3. In an effort to allow even more local agencies to apply,Manatee County officials have updated eligibility requirements.
Nonprofits that have received SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) or any other source of CARES funds, including from another County for Manatee County-based employees and services, will now be eligible to apply. On the application, the nonprofit will be required to disclose how much was allocated to them and what the funds were spent on.
Manatee County Commissioners in June approved the plan to provide financial assistance of $17.5 million that is being disbursed to those hit hardest by the coronavirus. The funding is the first phase of Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act federal funding arriving through the State of Florida.Manatee County's plan distributes funding into four categories: Public Health/Safety (30 percent), Economic Recovery (30 percent), Community Health and Well being (30 percent), and Government and Community Facilities (10 percent).
