Sarasota and Manatee Schools Opening, Late AND with In Person Options ...

Manatee County Schools

At a School Board meeting Yesterday (7/14/20), the following was discussed

Schools will re-open on August 17th, a week later than the scheduled opening.

Students will have three options.

They can do their classes online, have a hybrid schedule which means two days at school and three days online or everyday at school.

For on-campus school, there will be many precautions, from extra cleaning to everyone (Staff and Students) wearing a face mask.

Sarasota County Schools

At a School Board meeting Yesterday (7/14/20), the following was discussed

School will now start August 31. Teachers will start on August 17 giving them an extra week for preparation.

4 choices of learning:

1) Traditional in-school learning

2) FL virtual school (look it up, it’s been an option for years)

3) Homeschooling, where parents choose curriculum and do 100% of the teaching, no interaction with schools

4) remote learning where student is in front of computer 5+ hours a day participating in classes during the actual class time.

For the last option they are planning on eventually outfitting all classrooms with interactive cameras and microphones.

Masks mandatory except for those exempt under medical order.

Nothing is set in stone yet. They need to reconvene and vote at a later date to finalize the above plan.
