City of Sarasota says that Boat Ramps and Beaches Will Remain Closed

The City of Sarasota says that Boat Ramps and Beaches Will Remain Closed until they receive new guidance from state of Florida Health officials.

In a telephone City Commission meeting yesterday (4/20/20) Commissioners agreed that beaches and boat ramps should remain closed due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Discussions included the need to continue social distancing and limiting the potential spread of the virus. For those reasons many on the city commission board still believe these closures are necessary for the health of the public. The city of Sarasota, along with both Sarasota and Manatee Counties all have closed beaches.

No timetable was given on a possible re=opening, as they await new information from health officials.
