Woman Arrested for Attacking Person with Service Dog at Goodwill

Casselberry, FL - A Jacksonville woman is facing aggravated battery charges following an attack on a shopper with a service dog at a Florida Goodwill on Tuesday.

According to Casselberry Police Department reports, officers responded to the store after receiving reports of a physical altercation.

The victim informed police that 77-year-old Jacqueline James became upset about the presence of her service dog in the shopping aisle and initiated a confrontation.

Despite the store manager's intervention, James allegedly escalated the situation by slapping the victim's shopping basket from her hand, grabbing her hair, and pushing her to the ground.

James' claim that the victim swung the basket first was contradicted by security footage, which showed James striking the basket-holding hand.

The attack resulted in the victim suffering a fractured hip, requiring surgery.

James is currently in custody on a $25,000 bond as she awaits her court date on the aggravated battery charge.
