Man Awaits Hearing After Alleged THC-Induced Stabbing of Parents

Coral Springs, FL - A 21-year-old man will appear in court on Thursday on charges of attempted murder after he stabbed his parents during a mental episode following THC vape pen use.

According to court documents, Alexander Figueroa exhibited strange behavior after smoking the pen with his cousin on Saturday.

During a walk through the neighborhood, Figueroa made unsettling comments, including a question about choosing between "heaven or hell."

He also discarded his shirt and smashed his cousin's phone when the cousin declined to walk further.

The situation escalated when Figueroa rejoined his family, as he became erratic and attempted to break a window.

Upon entering the house, Figueroa locked himself inside and began yelling while unclothed.

A struggle ensued when family members attempted to intervene, resulting in stab wounds to both Figueroa's mother and father.

Following the attack, Figueroa was apprehended by police and is currently being held without bond in the Broward Main Jail.

Thursday's hearing will address the state's motion for pre-trial detention, aiming to keep Figueroa in jail until trial.
