It's an extra busy Thanksgiving for the Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is busy distributing food boxes and turkeys to needy Floridians ahead of Thanksgiving. Captain Ken Chapman says the impact of the pandemic is truly heartbreaking--

"We're finding people coming into our lines now that never imagined they would be- some were donating to us last year and this time this year they're having to be in our line," Captain Ken Chapman said, "because of economic situations and job losses."

While the pandemic has caused so much physical and economic devastation, Captain Chapman says the response from the community to help those in need has been a rich blessing for everyone at the same time--

"People have been coming by with massive donations and resources that are helping people. We have an 82-hundred square foot tent out that we're taking care of people who are experiencing homelessness."

Capt. Chapman says the Salvation Army isn't hosting sit-down dinners for Thanksgiving this year but they're still praying over every car in line and counseling people who come up to get a box of food and making sure they know they're not alone and someone cares.
