Coast Guard Says Sick Cruises Must Stay At Sea

Still no word on exactly what will happen with two Holland America ships with dead and sick passengers on board expected to be sailing near Port Everglades by tomorrow afternoon. 'Before the vessels can even enter U-S waters-they must present a plan that has to be approved by the Coast Guard --and the Coast Guard wants all sick ships to stay at sea where they may be sequestered indefinitely. Broward Commissioner Mark Bogen says they need the Coast Guard approval before calling a special meeting to decide if the ships can dock at Port Everglades. So far, he says they have not heard from the ships. Governor DeSantis wants to send medical personnel to the ships instead of allowing them to dock -- President Trump disagrees with that he says he will talk to the governor about allowing them to dock as a matter of humanity.
