NTSB Launches Investigation into Deadly Plane Crash

The NTSB says it will take months to complete their investigation into Wednesday small plane crash in Lake Maitland.

Investigators say 67-year-old Stanley Rampey and 79-year-old Raymond Dodd flew from South Carolina to Orlando Executive Airport. They were taking airline parts from Orlando to New Smyrna Beach when the plane crashed shortly after 11-a.m.

The pilot complained of fuel problems with the Cessna 182.

An NTSB investigator at the scene says the plane is being taken to Jacksonville where it will be broken down and carefully examined.

Dan Baggs says they will look at the fuel system, the switches, and the fuel quality to try and pinpoint what caused the rented plane to fail.

A preliminary report should be available by the end of the month, but the final report could take two-years to complete.

The medical examiner says both victims were from Seneca, South Carolina.
