Girl raises $10,000 to help students pay off lunch debt

Back in July, sixth grader Lilly Cowart of Spokane, Washington, learned that many of her classmates were behind on their lunch payments -- and wouldn’t be able to afford lunch this school year.

So, she decided to start raising money to square things up.

Lilly worked with her dad -- who sells cars -- and was able to convince other salespeople and customers to donate to the fund.

Amazingly, Lilly was able to raise $10,000 and present a check to the Spokane School District, which will help about 1,000 families maintain their accounts all year.
