Martel George of Charlotte, North Carolina, is making an impact on the lives of boys participating in the Let Me Run program. Martel coaches teamwork, self-esteem and, of course, running to the kids. But he does so from a wheelchair.
Because of cerebral palsy, 26-year-old Martel has been in a wheelchair all his life. But that hasn’t stopped him from getting involved and helping his team be the best they can be.
George is the first person in a wheelchair to ever serve as a head coach for Let Me Run. But, he’s been a great role model, teaching the kids to stay active and motivate them to push through any limits they think they might have.
