In Lynchburg, Virginia, a man raised thousands of dollars to pay off school lunch debt for high school students.
Dustin Wright read some stories about kids having to put hot lunches back because they didn’t have enough money on their cafeteria accounts – and wanted to do something about it.
So, he set up a fundraising campaign on Facebook with the hopes of collecting $1,000 to help students at Amherst County High School.
He didn’t just raise $1,000. Instead, he raised more than $7,500.
Dustin, who happens to be a former Marine and father of three, is now focusing his attention on middle and elementary schools next.
His goal is to have children focusing on school and classwork – and not worrying about their account balances.
