In Bismarck, North Dakota, a community garden celebrated its 10th year of operation, thanks to dozens of neighbors who have kept it running through the years.
This year, the Friendship Garden Club was able to harvest hundreds of pounds of fresh produce, before wet and cold weather set in. And, that produce was donated to a number of shelters and food pantries in the area.
Amazingly, the group has been able to harvest and donate over 5,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables over the past decade.
Those involved in the planting, feeding and harvesting of the produce enjoy working together through the summer. But the big fun is always at the end of the growing season, when the results of all their hard work can be seen -- and enjoyed by those in the community who need it most.
