The most dangerous states to work in

Each year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics keeps track of the number of fatal injuries that occur on the job in each state. And, not surprisingly, some states are more dangerous than others.

Here’s a rundown of the most dangerous states to work in these days:

  1. Alaska
  2. North Dakota
  3. Wyoming
  4. West Virginia
  5. Montana

Alaska topped the list with an average of 10.2 deaths per 100,000 full-time workers. And, all the states at the top of the list make sense because of all the workers they have in dangerous industries, like fishing, forestry, agriculture and mining.

If you’re looking to improve your odds of surviving the workweek, consider living in the following states, which seem to be the least dangerous:

  1. Rhode Island
  2. New Jersey
  3. California
  4. Delaware
  5. Connecticut
