Driving vs flying

43-million people will be traveling over the Memorial Day weekend, and if a new survey is to be believed, most Americans would prefer not to have to do that travel by air.

The poll finds the average American traveler hates going to the airport so much they’d gladly add six and a half hours to their travel time if it meant they could road trip to their location instead. In fact, 73% of Americans consider road tripping a more pleasant experience than flying.

So, why do so many people hate to fly? Well, Americans' biggest complaint is delays (55%), followed by dealing with security (50%), cramped seats (50%) and being limited on what they can pack (44%).

As for what they love about road trips, 69% love the scenic views, while another 69% enjoy the ability to stop whenever they want and 59% like being able to pack whatever they want.
