The "great pecan pickup"

There’s a special neighborhood in Cottonwood, Arizona, that has pecan trees growing everywhere because of irrigation ditches running through the town. The trees are thriving, but they haven’t been harvested – until now.

20 volunteers realized that most of the pecans on the trees were going to waste, so they got together to pick them – and then give those pecans to those in need.

The volunteers picked 194 pounds of pecans, which will be distributed by a local charity organization.
