NASCAR's Bubba Wallace Calls Driver Who Wrecked Him "a Joke"

NASCAR's Bubba Wallace did not mince words Wednesday after driver Michael McDowell appeared to turn his No. 43 Chevrolet into the wall at Bristol Motor Speedway, ending his qualifying event race after only 17 laps,USA Todayreports. "What a joke he is," Wallace said of McDowell. He also said of the crash, "I don't even need to see a replay. Look at that. Yeah, wow. People say one of the nicest guys in the garage. Can't wait for the God-fearing text he's going to send me about preaching and praising respect." Because his car was wrecked, Wallace was unable to participate in the All-Star Race at Bristol Motor Speedway or qualify for the exhibition event. Wallace had been in the lead to earn a spot in the All-Star Race and have a shot at the $1 million purse. In related news, a Confederate flag banner was again flown before NASCAR’s All-Star Race, as it was last month at Talladega. The banner included the name “SCV.org," which is the website for The Sons of Confederate Veterans organization. However, there were no Confederate flags visible in the grandstands at Bristol on Wednesday night.
