Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos donated $1 million toward the purchase of life-saving ventilators. Current projections in the United States suggest the number of coronavirus patients will out-number ventilators.
New York state has been hard-hot by the virus. There have been more than 4,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and at least 29 deaths.
COVID-19, which is the disease caused by the coronavirus, impacts a patient’s lung capacity. Hospital ventilators pump oxygen into the lungs and help a person breathe.
A second portion of their $1 million donation will support 11 women’s shelters in New York City. (People)
