High School Students Discover Dead Body While Working On Class Project

Amazon Creek

A group of high school students from Oregon made a grisly discovery while working on a school project. The students from Churchill High School were exploring the area near Amazon Creek in Eugene when they stumbled across the body. They called the police who came out to the scene and began investigating.

The Eugene Police Department issued a statement saying they believe the deceased person died by suicide. They have not released the person's identity because they have not notified their family.

The Lane County Medical Examiner is taking over the investigation and will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The principal at the school sent an email to parents informing them of what happened and said the school is offering help to the students who found the body.

"I think Churchill High School did a great job communicating to parents. I have a child there and while mine wasn't in the group, the principal sent out an email to everyone that was very professional. They are taking great care of the students that did witness this," one parent replied to the police department's post on Facebook.
