A few weeks ago, the Bentley family of Knoxville, Tennessee, endured a scary scene as their three-year-old daughter, Aurora, was playing in the yard when a stray dog chased her and started to attack.
Before anyone could react, another stray dog came out of the woods and put himself between Aurora and the other dog. The two dogs fought, but the other dog finally backed down and ran away.
The family was so grateful for what this brave dog did that they decided to adopt the dog -- now named Oreo -- and give him to Aurora for her third birthday.
Oreo is now enjoying a more relaxed life, sleeping in a bed and going wherever the Bentley family goes. And, of course, continuing to keep a close eye on his new best friend Aurora.
