A Texas mom has inspired others with her health journey. After a health scare motivated her to lose weight and work out, Helen Costa-Giles has invited her neighbors to join her fitness journey. When the overweight mom of two received a bad bill of health in 2014, she overhauled her pantry and started eating a balanced diet. While she lost 60 pounds by changing how she ate, she wanted to start exercising too.
Needing some motivation, Costa-Giles recalls posting a Facebook message saying, "Hey, anybody want to work out with me at 4 a.m.?" And people said yes. Costa-Giles has lost an additional 30 pounds and is at her healthiest at age 40, noting, "Having somebody there next to you and having somebody on the same journey with you is really powerful."
