Bake Sale Raises Money for Paralyzed Dog

In Vinton, Virginia, an animal hospital organized a bake sale to raise money to buy a special wheelchair for a paralyzed dog.

The dog -- a six-year-old dachshund named Shadow -- was recently paralyzed in his rear legs. The medical staff at Vinton Vet Clinic loves Shadow and has been taking care of him after his owner just wasn’t able to afford to keep him.

Shadow had been scooting around in a temporary wheelchair, but the staff wanted to set him up with a custom rig, so they invited the community to help out with donations at a bake sale.

It was a huge success. Hundreds of dollars were raised, which will be spent on a custom wheelchair to help Shadow live a long and wonderful life.
