MOTHER AND DAUGHTER DONATE 16,000 BOOKS TO CHILDREN

Over the past 20 years, special education teacher JoAnn Hooker of Old Fort, Tennessee, has helped hundreds of kids to read. And in recent years, she has been joined by her daughter Sara Weaver, who teaches first grade at the same school.

Now that summer is here, JoAnn and Sara don’t want the kids to take steps backward in their learning, so -- for the fourth year in a row -- they sent the kids off to summer vacation with books in hand.

Amazingly, they gave each and every student at the school 10 books to read at home as part of their annual book giveaway.

Since 2014, JoAnn and Sara have purchased and given away more than 16,000 books, doing their best to ensure the kids continue to grow up with a love of reading and exploring the world through books.
