8-year-old Myles Eckert had found a $20 bill and was dreaming up ways to spend it when he suddenly spotted a US soldier walk into a Cracker Barrel restaurant. Instead of spending the money on himself, Myles handed the money to the soldier, along with this handwritten note:

The note reads: “Dear Soldier — my dad was a soldier. He’s in heaven now. I found this 20 dollars in the parking lot when we got here. We like to pay it forward in my family. It’s your lucky day! Thank you for your service. Myles Eckert, a gold star kid.”

"Because he was a soldier, and soldiers remind me of my dad," Eckert explained.

Eckert's father, Army Sgt. Andy Eckert, was killed in Iraq when Myles was only 8 weeks old. Myles can only imagine what his father was like.

Later that day, Myles asked his mother, Tiffany, if he could go visit his father. Tiffany took this photo:

My eyes sure are watering...must be all the dust in here.
