South Carolina Police Officer Gaetano Acerra, responded to a call from a 13-year-old boy, did more than just serve and protect.

Cameron Simmons called the police because he was upset over a fight with his mom. Acerra responded to the Simmon's call and brought him home, even though the teen said he didn't want to live at his house anymore.

When Acerra got to Simmons' house, he found out that the boy didn't have any bedroom furniture and was sleeping on an air mattress that would constantly deflate.

He told Simmons to stay positive and that he would be back.

Acerra returned in a few weeks with a truck-load of gifts for Simmons.

"Bed, TV, desk, chair, a Wii game system that somebody donated to me because of the story I told them," said Acerra. "I didn't do this for publicity or to get people to notice me. I did it because I could. It was the right thing to do and I think people should do things like this."
